Meade Runs Fastest Indoor 400 Meters in Program History
SELINSGROVE, Pa. One of the four school records still on the books from the Goucher women's indoor track and field program's first year of existence was finally broken today when freshman Sarah Meade (Santa Fe, N.M./Monte Del Sol Charter School) recorded a time of 1:03.17 in the 400-meter dash at the 2010 Landmark Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Gophers Earn Points in Eight Events, Place Fifth in Team Scoring
SELINSGROVE, Pa. — One of the four school records still on
the books from the Goucher women's indoor track and field program's
first year of existence was finally broken today when freshman
Sarah Meade (Santa Fe, N.M./Monte Del Sol Charter
School) recorded a time of 1:03.17 in the 400-meter dash
at the 2010 Landmark Conference Indoor Track & Field
Championships.
Meade placed fourth in the event and her time knocked out the record established by Jen McCulley on February 24, 2001.
The indoor school records in the mile and 4 x 200-meter relay were also broken today at the conference meet. Freshman Hadley Couraud (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) completed the mile in 5:31.54, good for fourth place; in the 4 x 200, Goucher's entry of Meade, Kate Clarke (Hendersonville, Tenn./Pope John Paul II), Dana Macaluso (Huntington, N.Y./Huntington) and Marissa Copan (Golden, Colo./Golden) was clocked at 1:53.01 and finished in third place.
Goucher also took third place in the 4 x 400-meter relay (4:24.07), and fourth in both the 4 x 800-meter (11:43.61) and distance medley (15:51.55) relays.
Junior Abby Cooney (Holden, Mass./Wachusett Regional) earned points for the Gophers in two events as she placed fifth in the weight throw (38-feet, 4.75-inches) and sixth in the shot put (31-feet, 8.5-inches).
The Gophers came away with points in eight different events, finishing in fifth place overall with a team score of 31 points.
