Latest Honor Covers Performance at DuCharme Invitational
MADISON, N.J. — For the third time so far this season, Goucher's Destiny Phillips (Washington, D.C./Dunbar) has been chosen Female Indoor Track Athlete of the Week in the Landmark Conference.
The latest honor, announced this morning, is for Jan. 30-Feb. 5 and is based on her performance at the DuCharme Invitational where she placed in the top 3 in three events, setting a new indoor school record each time. The freshman already held the records in the 55-meter hurdles and the 55-meter dash, but bettered both of those times with her performances Saturday: 8.68 seconds in the 55 hurdles, which was good for first place, and 7.35 seconds in the 55 dash, which put her in third place.
The third record Phillips broke Saturday was in the 200-meter dash where she placed third with her time of 27.11 seconds.
Phillips, who previously was recognized by the Landmark Conference as her sport's top performer for the seven-day periods ending Dec. 3 and Dec. 10, also ran the final leg on Goucher's entry in the 4 x 200-meter relay Saturday that was clocked at 1:53.28 and finished in second place.
