Goucher's Entry in Distance Medley Relay Claims First Place
SELINSGROVE, Pa. — Goucher produced the first-place performer in the 60-meter hurdles and the victorious entry in the distance medley relay at today's Susquehanna Invitational.
Destiny Phillips (Washington, D.C./Dunbar) set a new school record with her winning time of 9.14 seconds in the 60 hurdles, breaking the former standard of 9.47 seconds she established earlier this season at the Bow Tie Classic.
The freshman also finished in a tie with Moravian's Brielle Sutter in the high jump competition. Both went out at 4'7.75".
Katelynn Zidanic (York, Pa./Central York), Caitlin Biggers (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Lakeland), Zoe Malkin (Watchung, N.J./Watchung Hills Regional) and Gwendolyn Moiles (Waldoboro, Maine/Medomak Valley) represented Goucher in the distance medley relay and claimed first place with a combined time of 13:41.87.
In the 4 x 200-meter relay, Goucher's entry of Kelsey Turner (Philadelphia, Pa./Germantown Friends), Jaclyn Kellon (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/St. Peter Chanel), Nathalie Hall (New Haven, Conn./Wilbur Cross) and Phillips set a new school record with its time of 1:52.45, good for second place. In the 4 x 400-meter relay, Phillips, Turner, Kenzie Weber (Lake George, N.Y./Lake George) and Erin Reifsnyder (Austin, Texas/St. Andrews Episcopal) took third place (4:28.17).
Taylor Burr (Addison, Maine/Maranacook Community) and Katherine Currier (Brooklyn, N.Y./LaGuardia) finished 3-4 for Goucher in the mile, with Burr completing the event in 5:42.17 and Currier following in 5:46.59.
Three Goucher athletes placed sixth in an event: Kellon in the 60-meter dash (8.59 seconds), Reifsnyder in the 200-meter dash (28.06 seconds) and Kathryn Walker (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Plymouth Whitemarsh) in the 800 meters (2:36.86).
There was no team scoring.
