MADISON, N.J. — Two days after breaking three school records while competing in the first meet of her collegiate career, Goucher's Destiny Phillips (Washington, D.C./Dunbar) was recognized today by the Landmark Conference as the Female Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for the seven-day period ending Dec. 4.
At Saturday's Bow Tie Classic in Collegeville, Pa., Phillips was the runner-up in the 60-meter hurdles and finished in 10th place in the 60-meter dash. Her times in those events — 9.47 seconds in the 60 hurdles and 8.36 seconds in the 60 dash — are both the fastest in the history of the school's indoor track and field program by a female runner.
The third school record that the freshman managed to break Saturday was in the high jump where she cleared 4'8.25" to finish in 12th place.
