Phillips Claims Two More Schools Records, Adds On to Third

CARLISLE, Pa. — Goucher's Destiny Phillips (Washington, D.C./Dunbar) was runner-up in two events and accounted for 29 of the 35 points the Gophers scored in finishing in seventh place today at the Dickinson Invitational.
Phillips' two second-place performances were in the 55-meter hurdles and the 400-meter run, and she set new school records with her times in both events as she completed the 55 hurdles in 9.01 seconds, just 3-hundredths of a second behind Kristin Fitti-Hafer from Lebanon Valley, and the 400 in 1:02.46.
The freshman also placed third and lengthened by a half-of-an-inch her own school record in the high jump with an effort of 4'8 3/4", plus she placed fourth in the 200-meter dash (:28.29) and seventh in the 55-meter dash (:07.81).
Goucher's entry of Kelsey Turner (Philadelphia, Pa./Germantown Friends), Kenzie Weber (Lake George, N.Y./Lake George), Erin Reifsnyder (Austin, Texas/St. Andrews Episcopal) and Jewell Porter (Silver Spring, Md./John F. Kennedy) posted a time of 1:59.85, good for sixth place in the 4 x 200-meter relay.
Maafio Appiah-Padi (Edmonton, Alberta/Lewisburg Area) placed seventh in the shot put competition based on her top effort of 31'3 1/4" and Reifsnyder was eighth in the 400 (1:06.98).
