MADISON, N.J. — Goucher's Destiny Phillips (Washington, D.C./Dunbar) repeated as the Female Indoor Track Athlete of the Week in the Landmark Conference.
The latest honor, announced this morning, is for Dec. 5-11 and is based on her performance at the Dickinson Invitational where she was runner-up in two events and accounted for 29 of the 35 points the Gophers tallied on the way to finishing in seventh place in the team scoring.
The freshman's two second-place finishes were in the 55-meter hurdles and the 400-meter run, and she set new school records with her times in both events as she completed the 55 hurdles in 9.01 seconds and the 400 in 1:02.46. She also placed third and lengthened by a half-of-an-inch her own school record in the high jump with an effort of 4'8 3/4", plus she placed fourth in the 200-meter dash (:28.29) and seventh in the 55-meter dash (:07.81).
Phillips was also the Female Indoor Track Athlete of the Week in the Landmark Conference for the seven-day period ending Dec. 4.
