Goucher's Entry in 4 x 200 Relay Finishes in 8th Place
SELINSGROVE, Pa. — Goucher's Maafio Appiah-Padi (Edmonton, Alberta/Lewisburg Area) made only one legal throw tonight in her three attempts in the shot put competition at the Susquehanna Open, but still managed to finish in eighth place.
In between fouls on her first and third attempts, the sophomore got off a toss that measured 35'11 1/4". That ranks 16th all-time in the history of Goucher's women's indoor track and field program and all 15 efforts ahead of the one Appiah-Padi achieved tonight belong to 2004 graduate Natalie Williams.
Appiah-Padi missed advancing to the finals in the shot put by one-quarter of an inch.
Goucher's entry in the women's 4 x 200-meter relay also finished in eighth place at tonight's meet. The foursome of Jaclyn Kellon (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/St. Peter Chanel), Danielle Granger (Amherst, Va./Amherst County), Jewell Porter (Silver Spring, Md./John F. Kennedy) and Sara Aganovic (Pasadena, Md./McDonogh) was clocked at 1:59.58.
