Sophomore Adds Record for 3,000 to One for 5,000 Meters
TOWSON, Md. — Goucher's Katherine Currier (Bronx, N.Y./LaGuardia) was picked as the Female Indoor Track Athlete of the Week in the Landmark Conference for Dec. 3-9.
The weekly honor went to the sophomore for her first-place performance in the 3,000-meter run on Saturday at the Hagerstown Invitational. She was clocked at 11:00.20, which is exactly 19 seconds faster than the time Fraley Coles posted in the event back in 2006 that stood as the school record until it was broken Saturday.
Currier now owns two indoor school records. In addition to having run the fastest 3,000 meters in the history of Goucher's women's indoor track and field program, she set a new record last season as a freshman in the 5,000 meters when she completed the event in 19:09.67 at the DuCharme Invitational.
