FAIRFAX, Va. —A top-20 showing from Maafio Appiah-Padi (Edmonton, Alberta/Lewisburg Area) highlighted Goucher's performance in the highly-competitive Patriot Games today. The meet, hosted by George Mason, contained 15 Division I opponents.
Appiah-Padi placed 17th out of 32 competitors in the shot put, registering a season-best top throw of 10.29 meters (33'9 1/4"). The senior co-captain also competed in the weight throw, earning a 21st place result with a top throw of 11.07 meters (36'4").
Brianna Hite (Port Republic, Md./Calvert), competing in her first meet of the season, earned the top finish for the Gophers on the track. She completed the one-mile run in 6:02.32, putting her in 30th place overall. Soliana Goldrich (Cleveland, Ohio/Beachwood) also ran in the same event, playing 38th with a time of 6:20.69.
Danielle Granger (Amherst, Va./Amherst County) had the next-highest showing for Goucher. She finished the 60-meter dash in 10.64 for a 31st place finish out of 42 runners. Granger also placed 42nd in the 400 dash with a time of 1:07.81.
The Gophers will next be in action at the DuCharme Invitational. The meet, by Dickinson, will take place next Saturday, Feb. 7.
