COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. — Maya Belin (Baltimore, Md./Maryvale Preparatory School) was the top performer for Goucher today at the Bow Tie Classic, the first meet of the 2015-16 indoor season for head coach John Caslin's Gophers.
The freshman finished in a tie with Jessica Olewine from Lebanon Valley for third place in the 200-meter dash as both runners completed the event in :28.04. She also took fourth place in the 60-meter dash where her time of :08.20 equals the 10th fastest time in that event in the history of Goucher's women's indoor track and field program.
Soliana Goldrich (Austin, Texas/Beachwood) placed ninth overall in the mile (6:00.46).
In the pole vault competition, Rebecca Kotula (Fallston, Md./John Carroll School) delivered the second-best performance of her career by clearing 2.30 meters (7'6-1/2"). Only two other individuals in program history have successfully cleared that height, which ties the ninth best effort by a Goucher female.
An entry of Laura Williams (Verona, N.J./Verona), Barbara Hounsou (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook), Kotula and Havah Berg (Champaign, Ill./University Laboratory) was clocked at 2:00.83 in to 4 x 200-meter relay, good for 10th place. Also finishing in 10th place was the quartet of Goldrich, Kotula, Amanda Tascarella (Rocky Point, N.Y./Rocky Point) and Berg in the 4 x 400-meter relay (4:57.93).
There was no team scoring.
Goucher will compete at the Dickinson Early Bird Invitational one week from today.
