CARLISLE, Pa. — Goucher's Maya Belin (Baltimore, Md./Maryvale Preparatory School) placed third in the 55-meter dash today at the Dickinson Early Bird Invitational.
Only Zakiyyah Richardson from Gwynedd-Mercy (:07.43) and Katherine Cavanaugh from Gettysburg (:07.51) completed the event ahead of Belin, who was clocked at 7.61 seconds. In the preliminaires, she was clocked at :07.57, which is the fourth-fastest indoor time for the 55 dash by a female runner in school history.
Belin also placed fourth overall in the 200-meter dash (:28.36).
Jessica Snouwaert (Palmer Lake, Colo./American Hebrew Academy) took fifth place in the 400-meter run (1:18.69).
In the mile, Amanda Tascarella (Rocky Point, N.Y./Rocky Point) posted a time of 5:54.05, good for sixth place. Also finishing in sixth place was Rebecca Kotula (Fallston, Md./John Carroll School) in the pole vault, where she sleared 2.15 meters (7-0.5").
A distance of 1.37 meters (4'-6") allowed Laura Williams (Verona, N.J./Verona) to share seventh place in the high jump. She also took eighth place in the 55-meter hurdles (:09.75).
Goucher's entry of Kotula, Tascarella, Williams and Snouwaert recorded a time of 4:58.43 in the 4 x 400-meter relay, good for fourth place.
The Gophers, who won't compete again until the Collegeville (Pa.) Classic on Jan. 23, wound up in sixth place in the team standings with a score of 28.5 points.
