Pair From Goucher Finish Among Top D-III Sprinters

FAIRFAX, Va. — Goucher's Maya Belin (Baltimore, Md./Maryvale Preparatory School) and Kamillah Smith (Northampton, Mass./Amherst Regional) were among the top Division III entrants in the 60-meter dash today at the Patriot Games.

While they were 21st and 22nd overall, respectively, only three Division III sprinters posted faster times than Belin, who completed the event in 8.25 seconds. Smith was the next runner to cross the finish line (:08.30).

Laura Williams (Verona, N.J./Verona) missed a spot in the 60-meter hurdle finals by one position as she placed 19th overall in the preliminaries. Only five of the hurdlers who advanced ahead of her were from Division III institutions.

The Gophers, who will compete one week from today at Dickinson's DuCharme Invitational, did not score a point in today's meet.
