Pair From Goucher Earn Points in 55, 200 Dashes

CARLISLE, Pa. — Kamillah Smith (Northampton, Mass./Amherst Regional) and Maya Belin (Baltimore, Md./Maryvale Preparatory School) were both among the top five performers in the same two events today at the DuCharme Invitational, headinling Goucher's sixth-place finish.

Smith placed second in the 55-meter dash with her time of 7.55 seconds, while Belin was fifth (:07.74).

They repeated those positions in the 200-meter dash: Smith in second (:28.00) and Belin in fifth (:28.96).

Laura Williams (Verona, N.J./Verona) was clocked at :09.80 in the 55-meter hurdles, good for sixth place.

Danielle Granger (Amherst, Va./Amherst County), Smith, Belin and Williams joined forces in the 4 x 200-meter relay. The foursome wound up finishing fourth with a combined time of 1:57.18.

Hannah Brogan (Chatham, N.J./Chatham), Amanda Tascarella (Rocky Point, N.Y./Rocky Point), Anna Sandacz (Jessup, Md./Annapolis Area Christian School) and Kelly Johnson (Wayne, Pa./Conestoga) claimed third place with a time of 25:45.20 in the 4 x 1600-meter relay.

The Gophers tallied 38 team points.

A week from today, Goucher travels to Reading, Pa. for the Albright Invitational.
