Pair of Goucher Runners Go 1-2 in 55-Meter Dash

READING, Pa. — Maya Belin (Baltimore, Md./Maryvale Preparatory School) and Kamillah Smith (Northampton, Mass./Amherst Regional) were separated by 1-hundredth of a second as they finished 1-2 in the 55-meter dash today at the Albright Invitational.

Belin's winning time was 7.90 seconds; Smith was clocked at :07.91.

Belin also placed third overall in the 200 dash (:29.47).

Second place in the 55-meter hurdles went to Danielle Granger (Amherst, Va./Amherst County), who completed the event in 10.05 seconds.

The Gophers had two runners among the top four performers in the 800-meter run as Amanda Tascarella (Rocky Point, N.Y./Rocky Point) took third place with her time of 2:38.33 and Granger was the next to cross the finish line (2:39.06).

With its time of 5:12.94(h), Goucher's entry of Granger, Tascarella, Jessica Snouwaert (Palmer Lake, Colo./American Hebrew Academy) and Kelly Johnson (Wayne, Pa./Conestoga) placed second in the 4 x 440-meter relay.

The Gophers will compete at the Susquehanna Open in Selinsgrove, Pa. one week from today.
