SELINGSGROVE, Pa. — Kamillah Smith (Northampton, Mass./Amherst Regional) earned 16 of Goucher's 26 total points at the Landmark Conference Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships, which were conducted today.
Once again, Smith excelled and lowered her times in the 60-meter and 200-meter dashes. Just last week, the senior turned in a time of 8.14 seconds in the 60, but with a hand-held time of :07.98 today, she claimed second place in that event and picked up eight points for the Gophers. Teammate Maya Belin (Baltimore, Md./Maryvale Preparatory School), who finished right behind in third place with a time of :08.01(h), collected six points.
In the 200 dash, Smith shaved nearly three-fourths of a second off her season-best time as she completed the event in 26.98 seconds, which is the second-fastest time by a female in the history of Goucher's indoor program. It made her the runner-up, which dropped eight more points into Goucher's bundle.
In the 4,000-meter distance medley relay, Goucher's entry of Kelly Johnson (Wayne, Pa./Conestoga), Hannah Brogan (Chatham, N.J./Chatham), Danielle Granger (Amherst, Va./Amherst County) and Amanda Tascarella (Rocky Point, N.Y./Rocky Point) placed fifth with a time of 13:54.23.
A foursome made up of Monique Welch (Reisterstown, Md./Franklin), Belin, Smith and Granger clocked a time of 1:53.90 in the 4 x 200-meter relay, also good for fifth place.
Goucher finished in fifth place with 26 points, ahead of Juniata (17 points) and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (2).
