For the first time in her career at Goucher College, sophomore Taylor Gunter (Laurel, Md.) of the Gophers' women's track & field team was named the Landmark Conference indoor field Athlete of the Week on Monday afternoon, for the period ending Feb. 11.
Gunter earned this week's award after a banner performance at the Albright Invitational on Saturday, as the Gophers continued the indoor portion of their schedule.
First, Gunter got her day started for Goucher with a second place finish in the shot put, recording a 35 feet, 9.5-inch effort in the event. Next up for Gunter was the weight throw, in which she was victorious with a 44 foot, 7.4-inch toss. The mark was the seventh best all-time in program history, as well.
Gunter's win in the weight throw was her first of the year, as she helped the Gophers finish seventh overall in the event with her efforts.
Gunter and the rest of the Goucher College women's track & field team return to action on Friday, as they travel to Selinsgrove, Pa. for the Susquehanna Invitational. Action gets underway at 4 p.m.
