GRANTHAM, PA — Goucher's Rachel Boss (Keene,
NH/Keene) was runner-up in the 800-meter run today at the
Messiah Invitational.
Boss earned eight team points for the Gophers with her second-place
performance, and her time of 2:25.34 is a new school record in the
event.
Goucher earned an additional four points in the 800 thanks to a
fifth-place finish by Marisa Long (Hampton Bays,
NY/Sachem), who completed the event in 2:28.96.
Shena Newman-Blount (Lanham, MD/Bishop Ireton)
earned points for the Goucher in two events. She placed fifth in
the long jump (15-feet, 7.25-inches) and sixth in the 100-meter
dash (:13.40).
Fraley Coles (The Plains, VA/Highland School)
placed fifth in the 1,500-meter run (5:05.44) and Amy
McLellan (Brewster, MA/Nauset Regional) finished sixth in
the 400-meter run (:64.55).
Goucher, which placed eighth in a field of 13 teams with a total of
30 points, also secured points in the 4 x 400-meter relay where the
quartet of McLellan, Long, Newman-Blount and Boss placed fourth
with a time of 4:21.22.
