CARLISLE, PA — Goucher's Marisa Long
(Hampton Bays, NY/Sachem) broke her own indoor school
record in the 1,000-meter run today at the Winter Classic.
Long completed the event in 3:29.52, good for fourth place and five
points toward the team total.
Goucher also produced the fourth-place finisher in another event:
Sheba Newman-Blount (Lanham, MD/Bishop Ireton) in
the 55-meter dash. She was clocked at :08.01.
The only other event in which the Gophers secured points was the 4
x 400-meter relay, where sixth place meant three points.
With a total of 13 points, Goucher finished in seventh place in the
team standings.
