Senior Makes First Team as 800-Meter Champion

May 1, 2007

ST. MARY'S CITY, MD — The official 2007 All-Capital Athletic Conference Women's Track & Field Team — containing the names of two Goucher student-athletes — was released today by the conference office.

The All-CAC squad is based on performance at the conference annual championship meet, which was conducted Saturday. Individual competitors and members of relays which place first in an event are rewarded with selection to the All-CAC first team; runner-ups are placed on the all-conference second team.

Goucher has one first-team selection in senior Rachel Boss (Keene, NH/Keene) and one on the second team in sophomore Sheba Newman-Blount (Lanham, MD/Bishop Ireton). Boss was the first runner to cross the finish line in the 800-meter run as she completed the event in 2:22.10. Newman-Blount (:13.19) placed second behind Salisbury's Alicia Canzanese in the 100-meter dash.

As a team, Goucher finished in fifth place at the CAC Championships.
