at the Battleground Relays, which concluded today.
The quartet of Kate Clarke (Hendersonville, Tenn./Pope John Paul II), Marissa Copan (Golden, Colo./Golden), Dana Macaluso (Huntington, N.Y./Huntington) and Sarah Meade (Santa Fe, N.M./Monte Del Sol Charter School) finished as runner-up to Houghton with its time of 1:57.30, which is a new outdoor school record in the sprint medley relay. Houghton's winning time was 1:57.28.
Goucher had a second relay finish in second place: in the 4 x 100-meters, the same four runners turned in a time of :52.23, which is the third fastest time in that event in the history of the school's women's outdoor track and field program. First place went to Mary Washington (:51.76).
Abby Cooney (Holden, Mass./Wachusett Regional) provided Goucher with its only first-place performance in the meet as she bested the field in the hammer throw and became only the second thrower in program history to surpass 125-feet. The junior's winning throw: 129-feet, 10-inches.
Cooney also placed fifth in the shot put (32-feet, 2.75-inches) and seventh in the discus (100-feet, 7-inches).
Copan took third place in the 100-meter dash (:13.61) and Macaluso was fifth in the long jump (15-feet, 3.25-inches).
There was no team scoring.
