Macaluso Doubles Up in Dashes, Anchors First-Place Relay

also ran the final leg on Goucher's victorious entry in the 4 x
100-meter relay at today's Goucher Track & Field Classic.
Macaluso's first-place performances were in the 200- and 400-meter dashes. The junior's winning time in the 200 was :28.15; she completed the 400 in 1:03.66, which is the ninth-fastest time in that event in the history of the school's women's outdoor track and field program.
In the 4 x 100 relay, the quartet of Kate Clarke (Hendersonville, Tenn./Pope John Paul II), Kanika Staten (Columbia, Md./Long Reach), Marissa Copan (Golden, Colo./Golden) and Macaluso turned in a time of :52.63.
Goucher also produced the top performers in three others events: Abby Cooney (Holden, Mass./Wachusett Regional) in the hammer throw, Hadley Couraud (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) in the 3,000-meter run and Jaclyn Kellon (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/St. Peter Chanel) in the 400-meter hurdles.
Cooney surpassed all competitors in the hammer throw with a personal-best throw of 137-feet, 2-inches, which is nearly eight feet farther than her event-winning effort last weekend at the Battleground Relays.
Couraud crossed the finish line in the 3K in 11:14.07, which makes her the second-fastest individual in that event in program history. She was also runner-up in the 1,500-meter run and her time of 5:08.03 ranks seventh all-time at Goucher.
Kellon recorded the sixth-fastest time in program history (1:10.47) while taking first place in the 400 hurdles.
Copan (:13.81) and Clarke (:13.96) finished 2-3 in the 100-meter dash.
In the team scoring, Goucher was third behind York (203 points) and Catholic (152.5). The Gophers (111) finished ahead of Hood (98.5) and Gallaudet (34).
