Meade Places Second in 200 Dash, Fifth in 400 Dash
GRANTHAM, Pa. Goucher's Sarah Meade (Santa Fe, N.M./Monte Del Sol Charter School) was the runner-up in the 200-meter dash today at the Messiah Invitational.
Third-Place Performances for Couraud, Cooney in 5K, Hammer Throw
GRANTHAM, Pa. — Goucher's Sarah Meade (Santa Fe,
N.M./Monte Del Sol Charter School) was the runner-up in
the 200-meter dash today at the Messiah Invitational.
Meade crossed the finish line in :27.29, just 23-hundredths of a second behind Pam Jaracrewski from Elizabethtown.
Meade also placed fifth overall in the 400-meter dash, completing that event in 1:04.21.
Hadley Couraud (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) and Abby Cooney (Holden, Mass./Wachusett Regional) both placed third in an individual event. For Couraud, it was in the 5,000-meter run where she recorded a time of 19:34.12; fror Cooney, it was in the hammer throw where she achieved a distance of 119-feet, 10-inches.
Kate Clarke (Hendersonville, Tenn./Pope John Paul II) placed seventh in the 100-meter dash (:13.85) and Dana Macaluso (Huntington, N.Y./Huntington) was eighth in the long jump (14-feet, 0.25-inches).
Goucher had a relay place as high as fourth: in the 4 x 400-meter event, the quartet of Meade, Clarke, Caitlin Biggers (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Lakeland) and Macaluso turned in a time of 4:28.98, good for fourth place, and in the 4 x 100-meter relay, Clarke, Marissa Copan (Golden, Colo./Golden), Meade and Macaluso were fifth with a combined time of :53.02.
The Gophers earned a total of 36 points to finish in 10th place in team scoring.
