GRANTHAM, Pa. — Jaclyn Kellon (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/St. Peter Chanel) took third place in the 400-meter hurdles and was also on Goucher's entry in the 4 x 100-meter relay that placed seventh today at the Messiah Invitational.
The sophomore crossed the finish line in the 400 hurdles in 1:07.28. In the 4 x 100 relay, the foursome of Kate Clarke (Hendersonville, Tenn./Pope John Paul II), Caitlin Biggers (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Lakeland), Kellon and Dana Macaluso (Huntington, N.Y./Huntington) recorded a combined time of :51.86.
In addition to the six points Kellon secured in the 400 hurdles, the Gophers scored points in three other individual events: four points for the fifth-place effort of Macaluso in the long jump where she cleared 15-feet, 6.75-inches, three points for Shea Staab (Fallston, Md./Fallston) placing sixth in the 5,000 meters (20:38.55) and two points for Abby Cooney (Holden, Mass./Wachusett Regional) tossing the shot put 34-feet, 9-inches, which is a personal best for the senior and allowed her to finish in seventh place.
Goucher's entry in the 4 x 800-meter relay consisting of Katelynn Zidanic (York, Pa./Central York), Hadley Couraud (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing), Sarah Pardus (Stratham, N.H./Exeter) and Taylor Burr (Addison, Maine/Maranacook Community) took sixth place and picked up three points with its time of 10:42.83.
The Gophers wound up in 15th place in the team scoring with a total of 20 points and they just missed out on scoring in two additional events. In the 1,500-meter run, Burr placed ninth, but her time of 4:59.19 is the second-fastest for that event in the history of Goucher's women's outdoor track and field program; in the 10,000 meters, Hannah Southworth (Durham, N.H./Oyster River) crossed the finish line in 42:21.80, good for ninth place, but her time also ranks No. 2 for that event in program history.
