Gophers Produce Runners-Up in 400 Hurdles, 5000 Meters
GRANTHAM, Pa. — Goucher's Jaclyn Kellon (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/St. Peter Chanel) and Katherine Currier (Brooklyn, N.Y./LaGuardia) were each the runner-up in an event today at the Messiah Invitational.
Goucher's Entry in 4 x 800 Relay Finishes in Second Place
GRANTHAM, Pa. — Goucher's Jaclyn Kellon (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/St. Peter Chanel) and Katherine Currier (Brooklyn, N.Y./LaGuardia) were each the runner-up in an event today at the Messiah Invitational.
For Kellon, it was in the 400-meter hurdles where she was clocked at 1:06.25. She finished behind only Messiah's Liz Martin (1:04.69).
Currier's second-place performance was in the 5,000 meters. Her time of 19:00.31 was 11.1 seconds behind an unattached runner who was awarded first place in the event.
In addition, Goucher's entry of Zoe Malkin (Watchung, N.J./Watchung Hills Regional), Kellon, Haley Augustson (Athens, W.Va./PikeView) and Hallie Yarmus (Groton, Mass./F.W. Parker Charter) placed second in the 4 x 800-meter relay (10:55.70).
Maffio Appiah-Padi (Edmonton, Alberta/Lewisburg Area) placed third in the hammer throw (108' 10"), as did Sara Aganovic (Pasadena, Md./McDonogh) in the triple jump (32' 7"). Aganovic also took fourth place in the long jump (15' 2.25").
Stephanie Correa (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) was also entered in the 400-meter hurdles and posted a time of 1:15.91, good for ninth place.
With a score of 41 points, the Gophers placed eighth in the team standings.
