SELINSGROVE, Pa. — Goucher produced the runner-up in the 400-meter hurdles on the final day of the 2015 Landmark Conference Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
As a team, the Gophers finished in sixth place with a total of 35 points, 27 points ahead of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. Moravian claimed its eighth consecutive conference outdoor women's track and field title by accumulating 283 points; Susquehanna with 152 points was a distant second.
The second-place performance which netted eight points for Goucher today came from Danielle Granger (Amherst, Va./Amherst County), who was clocked at 1:09.51 in the 400 hurdles. Morgan Redmond from Moravian successfully defended her title in the event by posting a time of 1:06.62.
Granger placed third in the 400 hurdles as a sophomore at last year's conference meet.
Granger was also on Goucher's entries in the two relays that were contested today. The foursome of Laura Williams (Verona, N.J./Verona), Monique Welch (Reisterstown, Md./Franklin), Granger and Rebecca Kotula (Fallston, Md./John Carroll School) completed the 4 x 100-meter relay in 53.11 seconds, good for fifth place, and Granger was joined by Ellie Ginsberg (Ocean Twp., N.J./Ocean Twp.), Welch and Kotula in the 4 x 400-meter event where the Gophers posted a time of 4:30.08 and finished in sixth place.
Welch earned points for Goucher in two individual events today as she placed sixth in the 100-meter dash (:13.02) and seventh in the 200-meter dash (:26.90). Her time in the 200 ties the ninth-fastest in that event outdoors in the history of the school's women's track and field program.
Brianna Hite (Port Republic, Md./Calvert) placed seventh in the 3,000-meter steeplechase by completing the event in 12:48.35.
