Goucher's Entry Grabs First Place in 4 x 100m Relay
TOWSON, Md. — It was a strong day for Goucher in its only home meet of the 2016 outdoor season, the Goucher Track & Field Classic. Seven different individuals turned in top-5 performances and one relay claimed first place.

TOWSON, Md. — It was a strong day for Goucher in its only home meet of the 2016 outdoor season, the Goucher Track & Field Classic. Seven different individuals turned in top-5 performances and one relay claimed first place.
- The highlight of the meet was the 4 x 100-meter relay entry of Maya Belin (Baltimore, Md./Maryvale Preparatory School), Laura Williams (Verona, N.J./Verona), Monique Welch (Reisterstown, Md./Franklin) and Kamillah Smith (Northampton, Mass./Amherst Regional). The foursome placed first, earning the Gophers 10 points, with a time of :50.56, which is the second-fastest time in program history in the event.
- Smith placed second in the 100-meter dash (:12.76) and third in the 200 dash (:26.43). Belin took fourth place in the 100 (:12.95); Welch was fifth in both sprints as she was clocked at :13.02 in the 100 and :26.88 in the 200.
- In the 800-meter run, teammates Amanda Tascarella (Rocky Point, N.Y./Rocky Point) and Havah Berg (Champaign, Ill./University Laboratory) earned back-to-back finishes. Tascarella took fifth with a time of 2:38.74, while Berg finished sixth (2:39.39). Tascarella was also the fifth runner to cross the finish line in the 1,500 meters (5:16.46).
- Williams earned a third-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles (:17.19), while Danielle Granger (Amherst, Va./Amherst County) notched second, earning eight points, with a clocked time of 1:09.89 in the 400 hurdles.
- Hannah Brogan (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) was runner-up in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (13:55.76, and placed fifth in the 3,000 meters (13:39.30).
- The Gophers earned 88 points to finish in third place in the team scoring.
Goucher travels to Frostburg, Md. next Saturday to compete in the Bobcat Invitational. The meet is scheduled to start at 11 a.m.
