Williams Earns Three Points for Goucher on Day One

HUNTINGDON, Pa. — Goucher tallied three points on day one of the 2016 Landmark Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships today.
- Laura Williams (Verona, N.J./Verona) earned all three points for the Gophers with a sixth place finish in the long jump with a length of 4.61 meters. The junior also landed herself a spot in the 100-meter hurdles finals with a time of :16.82 in the preliminaries.
- The trio of Kamillah Smith (Northampton, Mass./Amherst Regional), Maya Belin (Baltimore, Md./Maryvale Preparatory School) and Monique Welch (Reisterstown, Md./Franklin) continue to make a mark within the conference, primarly in the 100 and 200-meter dashes.
- In the 100m dash, Smith notched the second-fastest time (:12.46) — finishing 1-thousandths of a second behind Corinne Glass of Moravian. Belin had a time of :12.64 while Welch tallied the fifth fastest time (:12.68). With these three times, the trio earns a spot in the finals.
- A 2-3-4 finish for the three Gophers in the 200m dash put them in their second finals event. Smith took the fastest time (:25.94) within the group while Welch followed with a time of :26.31. Belin capped fourth place (:26.36).
Goucher sits in sixth place at the end of day one. Day two events resume tomorrow morning.
