Short Distance Runners Shine in Championships
HUNTINGDON, Pa. — Goucher shined in the final day of the 2016 Landmark Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships today. The team landed a bevvy of top-5 finishes which played an integral role as head coach John Caslin's squad placed fifth overall.

HUNTINGDON, Pa. — Goucher shined in the final day of the 2016 Landmark Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships today. The team landed a bevy of top-5 finishes which played an integral role as head coach John Caslin's squad placed fifth overall.
- Kamillah Smith (Northampton, Mass./Amherst Regional) was the top finisher in the 100-meter dash with a time of :12.49. Teammates, Maya Belin (Baltimore, Md./Maryvale Preparatory School) and Monique Welch (Reisterstown, Md./Franklin) added to the Gophers' performance with a third place (:12.64) and fifth place (:12.68) finish. The trio also garnered points in the 200m dash, running 2-3-4 like the preliminaries just a day ago. Smith placed second (:25.70) while Belin finished third (:26.20). Welch's fourth place time was :26.29.
- Laura Williams (Verona, N.J./Verona) scored four points for Goucher with a sixth place finish in the 100-meter hurdles (:17.07) and an eight place finish in the high jump (1.42m).
- The 4 x 100 relay entry of Smith, Belin, Welch, and Williams was put to the test one more time. The foursome placed second, tallying eight points, within the conference (:49.15) and also broke a program record which was previously set on April 2, 2010.
- In the 400-meter hurdles, Danielle Granger (Amherst, Va./Amherst County) placed fourth, good for five points, with a time of 1:10.33.
- Hannah Brogan (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) earned two points for the Gophers with a seventh place finish in the 3,000m steeplechase. Her clocked time was 13:04.96.
- The entry of Havah Berg (Champaign, Ill./University Laboratory), Amanda Tascarella (Rocky Point, N.Y./Rocky Point), Granger and Williams in the 4 x 400 relay placed sixth (4:29.78).
Goucher totaled 65 points in the Championships, good for fifth place within the conference.
