Gopher Women Record Strong Performances at Fast Track
STATEN ISLAND, NY - The Goucher College women's track & field team traveled to New York to compete in the Fast Track National Invite, where they earned multiple strong performances.
Kalia Kiyoi opened the invite with a personal record in the 5000-meter run, after finishing with a time of 21:44.94, which was over 30 seconds faster than her previous best. Kiyoi also added a finish in the 3000-meter run, with a time of 12:45.00.
Junior, Ray Asiedu competed for the team in multiple events, including the 400-meter dash with a finish of 1:06.82. In the 200-meter dash, Asiedu earned a top 50 finish, with a time of 27.19. Following behind in the 200 were Marissa Heil (30.47) and Rosy Palla (32.99).
Heil also recorded a top 20 finish in the long jump, after finishing with a distance of 4.40m, while Palla rounded out the long jump competition with her finish of 3.63m. First-year AaShyah De Vries competed in the shot put, with a finish of 7.62m.
The team remains in New York for their second meet tomorrow at the Big Apple Invitational. The meet is set to begin at 3pm.
