Strong Track and Field Showing for Goucher at Susquehanna
SELINSGROVE, PA- Goucher competed at the Susquehanna Invitational, turning in strong performances across both field and track events.
In the field, AaShyah De Vries made her collegiate debut in the high jump, placing seventh with a height of 1.48 meters. She also competed in the shot put, recording a throw of 6.83 meters. Marissa Heil earned a top-18 finish in the long jump with a leap of 4.66 meters and added a shot put mark of 7.28 meters.
On the track, Ray Asiedu led the way with a second-place finish in the 200-meter dash, posting a time of 27.21. In the 60-meter dash, Asiedu qualified for the finals with an 8.23 in the preliminaries before finishing eighth overall in the final at 8.22. Heil joined Asiedu in the 60-meter, earning a top-30 finish with a time of 8.74. She also secured a top-25 finish in the 200-meter, running 30.10.
Rosy Palla competed alongside Asiedu and Heil in the 200-meter, placing inside the top 35 with a personal-best time of 31.93. In distance events, Kalia Kiyoi recorded a top-20 finish in the 3000-meter with a time of 12:40.85 and followed it up with a top-25 performance in the mile at 6:24.22. Both marks were personal records for Kiyoi.
The Gophers return to competition on Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Landmark Conference Indoor Championship, hosted at Susquehanna University.
