Bison Invitational Highlighted by Personal Bests
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Goucher College Women's Track & Field team had a successful day at the Bison Invitational hosted by Gallaudet University. The meet was highlighted by multiple personal bests and several strong finishes.
In the field events, Ja'Kiya Allen recorded a ninth-place finish in the hammer throw with a personal-best mark of 33.72 meters. Allen also competed in the shot put, earning a top-15 finish with a throw of 9.01 meters. AaShyah De Vries delivered a personal-best performance in the javelin with a throw of 26.87 meters, placing sixth overall. Allen also competed in the javelin, recording a mark of 19.29 meters. Marissa Heil posted a personal best in the javelin with a throw of 15.39 meters. Heil also competed in the long jump, earning a seventh-place finish with a season-best distance of 4.69 meters. Rosy Palla joined Heil in the long jump, finishing in the top 15 with a jump of 3.49 meters.
On the track, Ray Asiedu ran a personal best in the 100 meters, clocking in at 12.50 seconds. Asieu also competed in the 200 meters, earning a seventh-place finish with a time of 25.88 seconds. Palla joined Asieu in the 200 meters, finishing with a time of 30.50 seconds. Kalia Kiyoi placed in the top 18 in the 1500 meters with a time of 6:04.05. Kiyoi also competed in the 5000 meters, earning a seventh-place finish with a time of 23:14.09.
The Gophers return to action on Friday, April 17, at the Morgan State Legacy Meet.
