De Vries and Allen Lead Strong Day for Goucher at McDaniel
WESTMINSTER, MD- The Goucher College Gophers Women's Track & Field team traveled to McDaniel College to compete in the Carpenter-Case Invite.
In the field events, AaShyah De Vries led the way with a first-place finish in the high jump, clearing 1.46 meters. De Vries also earned a third-place finish in the javelin throw with a distance of 25.69 meters. In the long jump, Marissa Heil recorded a personal-best leap of 4.82 meters to finish fourth. Ja'Kiya Allen added multiple strong performances for the Gophers, placing third in the discus with a personal-best throw of 30.46 meters. She followed that with a fourth-place finish in the shot put, recording a throw of 9.41 meters, and placed seventh in the hammer throw with a mark of 33.21 meters.
On the track, Heil also represented the Gophers in the 200-meter dash, earning a fourth-place finish with a personal-best time of 29.30.
The Gophers return to action on Saturday, May 2, for the start of the Landmark Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Juniata College.
