September 16, 2008
LANHAM, Md. – Goucher accomplished something twice this evening that it managed to do only once in the first 11 matches of the season – a team attack percentage over .200. The Gophers hit .295 as a team in defeating Lancaster Bible, 3-1 (22-25, 25-15, 25-15, 25-15), before posting an attack percentage of .270 while polishing off Washington Bible, 3-0 (25-9, 25-15, 25-6).
Prior to this evening, the Gophers surpassed .200 in hitting only against McDaniel on Sept. 9.
Questina Johnson (Parkville, Md./Parkville) and Catie Ditmore (Santa Barbara, Calif./Laguna Blanca) combined for 26 kills and 19 digs in the four-set match against the Chargers. Claire Sauvage-Mar (New Delhi, India/American Embassy School) supplied the Gophers with 33 assists and Katharine Genton (Arlington, Va./Cushing Academy) was credited with a career-high 22 digs.
Rachel Hirsen (Los Angeles, Calif./Buckley School) had eight kills and no errors in nine attempts (.889 attack percentage) for Goucher (5-8) in the Washington Bible match.
Sauvage-Mar accounted for nine of Goucher's 21 service aces against the Cougars.
