Chalk Equals Smith's Record for Kills with 29 Against Mariners

MADISON, N.J. — Goucher's Megan Chalk (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park), who tied the school record for most kills in a four-set match when the Gophers defeated the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy on Saturday, was recognized today by the Landmark Conference as the Volleyball Player of the Week for Oct. 10-16.

Chalk registered 29 kills and finished with a .458 attack percentage against the Mariners, matching the number of kills Megan Smith had in a match against Messiah in 2007 and a match against McDaniel in 2009.

In the five matches the Gophers played during the week, the sophomore outside hitter compiled 66 kills, 49 digs, seven assists, nine blocks and seven service aces. She averaged 3.88 kills per set.

Through 27 matches this season, Chalk is leading the Gophers in kills (277) and ranks second on the team in digs (340).
