CHESTER, Pa. - Host Widener University eased past Goucher College for a 3-0 non-conference women's volleyball victory at the Schwartz Center Tuesday evening. Set scores were 25-14, 25-12, 25-16.
- Goucher (0-6) led 3-2 early following an Imani Ward kill.
- With Widener (7-4) leading 7-4, the Gophers scored three straight to tie the set 7-7.
- The Pride scored 11 straight points to build a 20-8 lead before a Lucille Hendricks kill ended the run.
- The second set was tied four times, the last at 6-6.
- Widener reeled off 10 straight points to go up 16-6 before a Emma Taylor kill halted the Pride string.
- Goucher held a 11-10 lead following a Widener service error.
- The hosts scored the next three points before an Ward kill made it 13-12.
- After a Taylor service ace made it 15-14 in favor of Widener, the Pride pulled away with six straight points to make it 21-14.
- Taylor and Liv DeBiasio finished with six kills apiece.
- Hendricks notched eight digs, while DeBiasio and Athena Savick each added seven.
- DeBiasio also recorded nine assists.
- Goucher returns home on Saturday for its second tri-match of the season at the Decker Sports and Recreation Center.
- The Gophers will take on Hood at 10 am and Gwynedd Mercy at 2 pm.
