WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Gallaudet University women's volleyball team downed Goucher College 3-0 in non-conference action at the Gallaudet Field House Wednesday evening. Set scores were 25-9, 25-16, 25-9.
- Goucher (0-9) led 4-2 following a Liv DeBiasio kill.
- The Bison (10-4) reeled off 10 straight points to build a 12-4 lead.
- After a service error by the hosts, Gallaudet scored two more points to go up 14-5.
- Gallaudet led 10-6 in the second set.
- The Gophers chipped away and a block by Emma Taylor and Dakota Hawkins pulled the guests within two, 15-13.
- The Bison scored the next four points to go up 19-13.
- Gallaudet took control early, scoring eight straight points to build a 10-2 lead.
- Up 18-8, the Bison closed the match on a 7-1 run.
- Lucille Hendricks led the Gophers with five kills.
- Athena Savick had a team-high 10 digs.
- Taylor had seven assists, while Vivian Huddleston recorded six.
- Hawkins finished with three blocks (one solo).
- Gallaudet hit .494 on the night, with the Gophers hitting .027.
- Goucher heads to Cedar Crest for a tri-match on Saturday, September 28. The Gophers take on Ursinus at 2 pm before facing the host Falcons at 4 pm.
- The Gopphers host defending national champion Juniata in their Landmark Conference opener on Friday, October 4 at 6 pm at the Decker Sports and Recreation Center.
