Gophers Hang Tight Against Warriors

TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College women's volleyball team battled in the first two sets before Lycoming College posted an eventual 3-0 Landmark Conference victory Saturday afternoon at the Decker Sports and Recreation Center.
- Goucher (0-13, 0-2 Landmark) trailed 7-6 when an Imani Ward kill and a Lycoming (7-9, 1-1) attack error put the Gophers in front.
- With the set tied 10-10, the Warriors reeled off three straight points to go up 13-10.
- Back-to-back kills by Alex Dzhygit and Lucille Hendricks pulled the Gophers within 13-12.
- Down 16-12, three straight Gopher points capped by a Liv DeBiasio service ace made it 16-15.
- The guests countered with five straight points to assemble a 21-15 lead.
- The Gophers jumped out to an early 5-2 lead following a Hendricks kill.
- A 4-1 Goucher spurt capped by a Dakota Hawkins kill put the hosts up 13-10.
- Goucher took its largest lead, 19-15, on an Athena Savick service ace.
- Lycoming rallied with six straight points to take a 21-19 lead.
- After a Ward kill, the Warriors scored three straight to go up 24-20.
- Kills by Ward and Dzhygit cut the lead to 24-22 before a kill by Lycoming closed out the set.
- Goucher hit .217 in the second set.

- After a Warrior service error, Lycoming scored four more points to go up 13-3.
- Dzhygit led the Gophers with seven kills, while Hendricks and Maria Basantes chipped in with six apiece.

- Savick racked up a career-best 24 digs, with Hendricks recording 10 and Madi Kraemer adding nine.
