ST. MARY'S CITY, MD — Goucher's Fraley Coles
(The Plains, VA/Highland School) was named Female Runner
of the Week in the Capital Athletic Conference today for the period
of Oct. 2-8.
For the second year in a row, Coles was the first runner to cross
the finish line at the Goucher Cross Country Challenge on Saturday.
In successfully defending her individual title, the junior
established a record on the Gophers' new 6,000-meter course as she
completed the race in 25:31.58, more than 13 seconds ahead of the
runner-up, Lisa Jones from Gloucester County.
Coles was one of three runners nominated for the weekly honor. The
other nominees were Jessica Caggiano from York and Danielle Sgro
from Hood, who placed fifth and ninth, respectively, in the Goucher
Cross Country Challenge.
