Coles Places 32nd in Strong Paul Short Field
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Running on the same course that will be used for the NCAA Division III Mid-East Regional Championships on Nov. 10, Goucher's J. Fraley Coles (The Plains, VA/Highland School) placed 32nd in a strong field of 240 runners today at the Paul Short Invitational.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Running on the same course that will be used for the NCAA Division III Mid-East Regional Championships on Nov. 10, Goucher's J. Fraley Coles (The Plains, VA/Highland School) placed 32nd in a strong field of 240 runners today at the Paul Short Invitational.
Coles completed the 6,000-meter race in 23:53. Of the 31 runners who crossed the finish line ahead of her, seven were from Division II institutions and only one was from one of the four Landmark Conference schools that participated in the race.
The next Goucher runners to come in following Coles were Becky Foner (Cape Elizabeth, ME/Cape Elizabeth), Katie Shaw (Albuquerque, NM/Bosque School) and Kate Young (Ithaca, NY/Ithaca). Foner turned in a time of 25:28, good for 125th place; Shaw (27:14) and Young (27:23) placed 189th and 194th, respectively.
Goucher's fifth runner was Tamara Filopovic (Belgrade, Serbia/Mercersburg Academy) in 204th place (27:54).
Kristen Carter from Grove City was the individual champion as she was clocked at 21:47. That gave her an eight-second victory over runner-up Erin Fisher from Elizabethtown.
In the team scoring, Cortland placed first with 158 points and Grove City was second with 167. Goucher finished in 28th place ahead of six other teams.
