Coles Becomes Four-Time All-Conference Performer

Fraley Coles (The Plains, VA/Highland School) became the first runner in the history of Goucher's women's cross country program to earn all-conference honors four times during her career when she finished in seventh place today at the inaugural Landmark Conference Women's Cross Country Championship.

TOWSON, Md. - J. Fraley Coles (The Plains, VA/Highland School) became the first runner in the history of Goucher's women's cross country program to earn all-conference honors four times during her career when she finished in seventh place today at the inaugural Landmark Conference Women's Cross Country Championship.
The senior completed the rain-soaked 6,000-meter course in 25:25. The individual champion was Alycia Woodruff from Susquehanna and her winning time was 24:27.
The top seven runners make up the 2007 All-Landmark Conference first team. While Goucher was a member of the Capital Athletic Conference, Coles was a first-team all-conference performer in 2004 as a freshman and made the second team in 2005 as a sophomore and 2006 as a junior.
The next two runners from Goucher to cross the finish line after Coles were junior Becky Foner (Cape Elizabeth, ME/Cape Elizabeth) in 33rd place and freshman Tamara Filipovic (Belgrade, Serbia/Mercersburg Academy) in 38th. Foner was clocked at 27:57 and Filipovic at 28:24.
Goucher had two runners finish back-to-back, :02 apart in sophomores Katie Shaw (Albuquerque, NM/Bosque School) in 47th place (29:15) and Kate Young (Ithaca, NY/Ithaca) in 48th (29:17).
A total of 71 runners took part in the race.
In the team scoring, Juniata placed first with 64 points, followed by Moravian (75 points) in second, Catholic (82) in third, Susquehanna (87) in fourth, Scranton (115) in fifth, Drew (121) and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy) tied for sixth and Goucher (173) in eighth.
