Shaw Places 35th Overall at Baltimore Metro Meet
HUNT VALLEY, Md. Goucher finished in sixth place ahead of both Morgan State and CC Baltimore County at the annual Baltimore Metro Meet which was conducted today at Oregon Ridge State Park.
Goucher Beats Out Morgan St., CC Baltimore Co. for Sixth Place
HUNT VALLEY, Md. – Goucher finished in sixth place ahead of
both Morgan State and CC Baltimore County at the annual Baltimore
Metro Meet which was conducted today at Oregon Ridge State
Park.
Senior Katie Shaw (Albuquerque, N.M./Bosque
School) was the first Goucher runner to cross the finish
line as she completed the 5,000-meter race in 21:53.35, good for
35th place overall. After Shaw came freshman Hadley Couraud
(East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) in 44th place
(22:23.62), junior Hannah Southworth (Durham, N.H./Oyster
River) in 55th (23:12.35) and freshmen Haley
Augustson (Athens, W.Va./PikeView) and Amanda
Schlosser (Shillington, Pa./Govenor Mifflinin) in 61st
(23:55.03) and 73rd (24:46.58), respectively.
Laura Paulsen from Johns Hopkins became the first four-time
champion in the history of the Baltimore Metro Meet as she placed
first overall with a time of 18:27.15. The runner-up was Mira Patel
(18:39.03), also from Johns Hopkins.
Johns Hopkins captured the team title with a near-perfect score of
17 points. Towson finished in second place with 46 points, followed
by McDaniel (107 points) in third, Loyola (111) in fourth, Coppin
State (155) in fifth, Goucher (160) in sixth, Morgan State (162) in
seventh and CC Baltimore County (221) in eighth.
