Freshman Follows Senior by :09.1 for 55th Place
CARLISLE, Pa. – For Goucher, a senior turned in a top 50
performance – and a freshman nearly did, too – in
the 6,000-meter race today at the annual Dickinson Long/Short
Course Invitational.
Katie Shaw (Albuquerque, N.M./Bosque School) completed the longer of the two races in 25:51.1, good for 48th place in a field of 121 runners. The next runner from Goucher to cross the finish line was freshman Hadley Couraud (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) in 55th place (25:59.2).
Twenty-one teams had a sufficient number of runners in the 6K to earn a score and a score of 154 put the Gophers in 13th place.
Kerrin Epstein from Gettysburg won the 6K in a time of 22:47.1.
Goucher entered only two runners in the shorter 4K and, therefore, was not awarded a team score for that race. The individual champion was Emily Wobb from Carnegie Mellon and her winning time was 14:38.7. Goucher's top performer in the shorter of the two races was sophomore Chiara Collette (Naples, Fla./Jakarta International School) in 142nd place with her time of 19:38.4.
