Goucher Runners Get Look at Course for Regionals
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — A week after running the third-fastest 5,000-meter race in the history of Goucher's women's cross country program, junior Kelsey Myette (Binghamton, N.Y./Seton Catholic Central) today turned in the program's eighth-fastest time for a 6K to finish in 16th place in a field of 178 collegiate runners at the Mid-East Regional Preview Meet.
Myette Crosses Finish Line in 16th Place Among 178 Runners
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — A week after running the third-fastest 5,000-meter race in the history of Goucher's women's cross country program, junior Kelsey Myette (Binghamton, N.Y./Seton Catholic Central) today turned in the program's eighth-fastest time for a 6K to finish in 16th place in a field of 178 collegiate runners at the Mid-East Regional Preview Meet.
Running on the same course that will be used in November for the NCAA Division III Mid-East Regional, Myette covered the distance in 23:39.
The individual champion was Joanna Johnston from Oberlin. Her winning time was 21:50.
Goucher's next two runners to cross the finish line following Myette were freshman Taylor Burr (Addison, Maine/Maranacook Community) in 38th place and sophomore Hadley Couraud (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) in 41st. Burr completed the race in 24:44, six seconds faster than Couraud.
Two other first-year runners figured in Goucher's team score of 239 points: Katelynn Zidanic (York, Pa./Central York), who placed 100th overall with her time of 26:39, and Shea Staab (Fallston, Md./Fallston), who was 121st (27:16).
Oberlin (41 points) beat out Case Western Reserve (68) by 27 points to finish in first place in the team scoring. Third place went to Grove City (91), followed by Haverford (102) in fourth, Carnegie Mellon (141) in fifth, Marywood (175) in sixth, Susquehanna (185) in seventh and Goucher in eighth. Trailing the Gophers were Penn St. Behrend (255) in ninth, Misericordia (285) in 10th, Waynesburg (321) in 11th, Westminster (339) in 12th, King's (350) in 13th and Washington & Jefferson (378) in 14th.
