Currier Grabs First Place at Coach Achtzehn Classic
MT. WOLF, Pa. — Goucher not only produced the individual champion today at the Coach Achtzehn Classic conducted at John Rudy County Park, but because four of her teammates were also among the top 10 finishers, the Gophers were also able to bring back the team title.

MT. WOLF, Pa. — Goucher not only produced the individual champion today at the Coach Achtzehn Classic conducted at John Rudy County Park, but because four of her teammates were also among the top 10 finishers, the Gophers were also able to bring back the team title.
First to cross the finish line in the 6,000-meter race was freshman Katherine Currier (Brooklyn, N.Y./LaGuardia). Her time of 24:09.16 is the 20th fastest for a race of that distance in the history of Goucher's women's cross country program.
The runner-up was Elizabeth Anne Pattron from Frostburg St. (24:18.37) and Goucher's Taylor Burr (Addison, Maine/Maranacook Community) placed third, completing the race in 24:50.84.
The next three runners from Goucher to come in were Katelynn Zidanic (York, Pa./Central York) in fifth place (24:58.30), Hadley Couraud (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) in seventh (25:01.55) and Kathryn Walker (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Plymouth Whitemarsh) in ninth (25:08.91).
The times turned in by Goucher's top five runners were all within 59.75 seconds of each other.
The first-place performance in the team scoring was an all-time first for Goucher at this event. The Gophers earned a team score of 21 points; York was 22 points behind in second place with 43 points. Franklin & Marshall was third (89 points), followed by McDaniel in fourth (90), St. Mary's (Md.) in fifth (112), Penn State-Altoona in sixth (197), Marymount in seventh (232), Lancaster Bible in eighth (243) and Gallaudet in ninth (247).
