Currier Breaks School Record, Places 12th in 4,000-Meter Race
NEWVILLE, Pa. — Goucher's Katherine Currier (Brooklyn, N.Y./LaGuardia) set a new school record for a 4,000-meter race with her time of 16:11, which landed her in 12th place in the short course today at the Dickinson Long-Short Invitational.
Gophers Place Seventh in Short Course, Eighth Overall with 225 Points
NEWVILLE, Pa. — Goucher's Katherine Currier (Brooklyn, N.Y./LaGuardia) set a new school record for a 4,000-meter race with her time of 16:11, which landed her in 12th place in the short course today at the Dickinson Long-Short Invitational.
Goucher had two other runners complete the short course in under 17 minutes: Katelynn Zidanic (York, Pa./Central York) was clocked at 16:51 and Kathryn Walker (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Plymouth Whitemarsh) at 16:59 as they placed 29th and 35th in a field of 167 runners, respectively.
With a team score of 76 points, the Gophers placed eighth overall in the short course.
In the 6,000-meter race, Taylor Burr (Addison, Maine/Maranacook Community) was the top performer for Goucher as she posted a time of 26:08, good for 67th place among 178 runners. Next were Handley Couraud (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) and Gwendolyn Moiles (Waldoboro, Maine/Medomak Valley) in 77th and 78th place, respectively. Couraud completed the race in 26:22, two seconds faster than Moiles.
Goucher placed 13th in the team scoring for the long course with 149 points, and adding the 76 points from the short course gave the Gophers an overall score of 225 that left them in seventh place.
