Gophers Keep Trophy as Top Team to Themselves

That was reversed today at the 2011 edition of the event as freshman Katherine Currier (Brooklyn, N.Y./LaGuardia) was the runner-up in the 6,000-meter race, but the Gophers captured the team title.
Currier Places Second, Six Seconds Behind York's Parshall

That was reversed today at the 2011 edition of the event as freshman Katherine Currier (Brooklyn, N.Y./LaGuardia) was the runner-up in the 6,000-meter race, but the Gophers captured the team title.
Thanks to being able to bunch four of its runners into the top 10, the Gophers finished with a team score of 34 points today. Second place in the team scoring went to York, which posted a score of 56 points. Loyola (Md.) was third with 93 points followed by Coppin St. in fourth (115 points), McDaniel in fifth (117), Davis & Elkins in sixth (121), Truett-McConnell in seventh (181) and Immaculata in eighth (223).
Currier crossed the finish line in 25:28, just six seconds behind the individual champion, Misty Parshall from York. Irene Cherubet from Coppin St. was third with her time of 25:29, but then three of the next four runners to come in were from Goucher: junior Hadley Couraud (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) in fourth place (25:58), sophomore Katelynn Zidanic (York, Pa./Central York) in fifth (26:05) and freshman Gwendolyn Moiles (Waldoboro, Maine/Medomak Valley) in seventh (26:17).
The fifth runner to figure into Goucher's team score was freshman Zoe Malkin (Watchung, N.J./Watchung Hills Regional) in 16th place with her time of 27:25.
Kelsey Myette (Binghamton, N.Y./Seton Catholic Central), the event's 2010 individual champion, placed 19th in the field of 70 runners this year as she was clocked at 27:59.
