Female Runners Earn Academic Recognition from USTFCCCA
NEW ORLEANS, La. — Goucher's women's cross country program was recognized today by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for the academic accomplishments of its student-athletes in 2012.
Award Goes to Teams with Cumulative GPAs of 3.10 or Higher
NEW ORLEANS, La. — Goucher's women's cross country program was recognized today by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for the academic accomplishments of its student-athletes in 2012.
For the fourth consecutive year, head coach John Caslin's women's program was the recipient of the USTFCCCA's All-Academic Team Award, which recognizes those in which the entire active roster attained a combined cumulative GPA of 3.10 or higher. The cumulative GPA of Goucher's female runners during the fall 2012 semester was 3.37.
During the 19 years Caslin has been the head coach of Goucher's cross country programs, his teams have earned a total of 27 All-Academic Team awards and the one today was the 14th for his female runners.
In 2012, 197 Division III women's cross country programs
nationwide achieved the All-Academic Team Award. In the Landmark
Conference, the only other recipient in addition to Goucher was
Susquehanna.
