Currier Runs Third-Fastest 6K in Program History
ALTOONA, Pa. — Sophomore Katherine Currier (Brooklyn, N.Y./LaGuardia) ran the third-fastest 6,000-meter race in the history of Goucher's women's cross country program to finish in second place today at the Juniata Invitational.

ALTOONA, Pa. — Sophomore Katherine Currier (Brooklyn, N.Y./LaGuardia) ran the third-fastest 6,000-meter race in the history of Goucher's women's cross country program to finish in second place today at the Juniata Invitational.
Currier was runner-up by 3.7 seconds to Drew's Jennifer Van Wingerden, who posted a time of 22:52.60 on the Fort Roberdeau Historic Site course that will be used for the Landmark Conference Championships next month.
In fact, teams out of the Landmark Conference took the top five places in the overall team scoring for today's race. Juniata placed first with 55 points and Catholic was nine points back in second place with a total of 64 points. Third place went to Moravian with 70 points, fourth to Susquehanna (75 points) and fifth to Goucher (87). The Gophers finished ahead of Pitt-Johnstown (154) and Keystone (191).
The only two runners to record faster times for a 6K than Currier in program history were Fraley Coles, who turned in a time of 22:32 at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional back in 2007, and Margo Bcker, who was clocked at 22:40.01 at the Sea Gull Opener in 2002.
The Gophers had a second runner among the top 10 finishers today as Katelynn Zidanic (York, Pa./Central York) placed seventh with her time of 24:56.60.
Shea Staab (Fallston, Md./Fallston) and Zoe Malkin (Watchung, N.J./Watchung Hills Regional) came in back-to-back: Stabb in 25th place with a time of 26:52.80 and Malkin in 26th (26:54.10). The fifth runner to figure in Goucher's team score was Christine Cherry (Laurel, Md./Meade) in 38th place (27:54.90).
There were a total of 78 runners in the race.
