Sophmore Crosses Finish Line First at Goucher Classic
TOWSON, Md. — Goucher's Katherine Currier (Brooklyn, N.Y./LaGuardia) was chosen Female Runner of the Week in the Landmark Conference for the seven-day period beginning October 1.
The sophomore was recognized by the conference today for her first-place performance at Saturday's Goucher Classic. She beat the remaining 89 runners across the finish line in the 6,000-meter race, which she completed in a time of 23:35.20. Her closest pursuer was Rachel Hegeman from Johns Hopkins, who was clocked at 23:55.80.
Currier's time was not only the 11th-fastest in the history of Goucher's women's cross country program for a race of that distance, but it was nearly two full minutes under the time she posted (25:27.70) in the Goucher Classic last year as a freshman.
