ALTOONA, Pa. — Goucher's top two performers today at the 2012 Landmark Conference Women's Cross Country both placed higher than they did at last year's conference meet. Still, the Gophers could not duplicate their second-place finish from a year ago.
Katherine Currier (Brooklyn, N.Y./LaGuardia), who was voted Rookie of the Year in the Landmark Conference after her fifth-place finish at the 2011 conference meet, was the fourth runner to cross the finish line in today's 6,000-meter race, conducted at the Fort Roberdeau Historic Site. She was clocked at 23:33.00, which put her less than 25 seconds behind Caroline Morgan from Juniata, who took third place.
Currier earned first-team All-Landmark Conference honors for the second year in a row for being among the top seven finishers.
Katelynn Zidanic (York, Pa./Central York) repeated as a second-team all-conference honoree by finishing in ninth place, one spot better than last year. Zidanic's time today was 24:38.30.
Drew's Jennifer Van Wingerden placed first in today's field of 69 runners. Her winning time was 22:52.20. The runner-up was Juniata's Katrina Woods in 23:08.40.
